Description

Agenda

19:00 〜 19:30 Doors open

Grab a drink and relax before the talks start.

19:30 〜 20:00 LinuxKit - Containers all the way down - Arek Turlewicz

Containers have become part of everyday work for most developers. They simplify the tedious setup of development environments or production stacks. They also play an important role for security by isolating the container application from other processes running on the same machine.
Let's dive into the world of containers and learn the technology behind them to create the base system for an IoT device, a EC2 instance or a virtual machine.

Profile
Arek is a Polish programmer living in Tokyo. In his free time he runs a lot, hacking when his legs get tired. Full-stack engineer with 10 years Ruby on Rails experience, currently looking for new job opportunities. His strongest skills are Cloud Solutions based on AWS Platform. His favorite programming languages are Ruby and Swift.

20:00 〜 20:15 Break

A quick break for some snacks and a chat!

20:15 〜 20:45 You Talk Too Much: Efficient Data Transfer with Protocol Buffers - Marcel Schnelle

When communicating with an IoT device, transmission speed of messages is becoming increasingly important to achieve a pleasant user experience. This is especially true for media that imposes significant constraints on the throughput of data between nodes (e.g. Bluetooth, Infrared). This talk introduces Google’s Protocol Buffer format as an effective alternative to more common data encodings such as JSON or XML, and discusses its benefits for heterogeneous environments like the ones we find in IoT, where platforms of all shapes and sizes need to agree upon a common language for sharing information.

Profile
In love with Android since 2012. Self-proclaimed advocate of JUnit 5 testing in the Android ecosystem. Used to work with clients in the movie ticket sales and smart meter fields in Germany. Now, a full-time remote freelancer, promoting the Japanese drink vending industry to the new millenium.

20:45 〜 21:30 Open Networking

Discuss the talks or anything else IoT related with the other attendants.
